In-House Position – Intellectual Property Counsel (Southern CA)

Villasenor & Associates is pleased to present a new listing for an in-house Intellectual Property Counsel position with a very well-established company in the food/beverage industry. The position will be based in the Southern CA area.

Our client is seeking an experienced, dynamic trademark and copyright lawyer to join the legal team at the company headquarters to help manage and enforce the company’s worldwide trademark and copyright portfolios. This is a great opportunity to work at an exciting company with a portfolio of well-known global brands and collaborate with business partners worldwide.

Responsibilities
• Support the Senior Legal Counsel in managing the company’s worldwide trademark and copyright portfolios, including multiple iconic brands.
• Supervise and work with outside counsel on trademark clearance and prosecution, copyright filings, and trademark opposition, cancellation, and invalidation proceedings.
• Draft and review IP-related agreements such as license, co-existence, and confidentiality agreements.
• Review product packaging and marketing materials, including web and social media, for appropriate use of trademarks and copyrighted works.
• Assist with other IP-related matters, including brand enforcement and IP litigation.
• Support IP counsel on strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience either in-house or at a law firm. Experience working for a consumer goods company, a plus.
• JD with membership in at least one state bar.
• Experience with both domestic and foreign trademark clearance and portfolio management.
• Experience counseling clients on trademark, copyright, design patent, and right of publicity.
• Collaborative lawyering style.

Compensation – Competitive, but depends on experience
